mtabram-large-trailmapresizedThis winter will bring the addition of 6 new trails to Mt. Abram in western Maine. The expansion adds two expert trails, two terrain parks, a race trail and a connecting trail. All will be covered with “airless” snowmaking.

The mountain has decided to utilize Nivis airless snow gun technology. Nivis’ technology doesn’t require compressed air. It uses the force of the water combined with aspirated ambient air to create snow. Crews need to install water pipe only, not air lines, along the new trails. The benefits are obvious.

“I’m incredibly excited to be able to continue to focus on creating the best possible skiing and riding experience through expansion of our snowmaking coverage, with our state of the art airless system, focused on energy efficiency and quality of product,” said Mt. Abram GM Dave Scanlan.
