(November 2012) While visiting the Boston Ski & Snowboard Expo last week, I was surprised to see an old favorite on display in the Tecnica Booth, the classic Moon Boots are back and better than ever. Tecnica has revived the iconic après ski Moon Boot Classic and expanded the line to include the new Moon Boot West East collection. The West East collection features European sizing and a designated left and right boot for a slimmer look and a snugger fit.
Who knew the inspiration for the Moon Boot design happened when a young bootmaker from Montebelluna, Italy, Giancarlo Zanatta, visited New York City and came upon a display in Penn Station celebrating the recent American lunar landing. He was moved to immediately begin sketching designs based on the unique shape and technology of the astronauts’ boots and when he returned to Italy, he and his team created the Original Moon Boot. Welcome back Moon Boots! Retro is so now.
In addition to the après ski boots the Moon Boots line also features a shoulder bag, shopping bag, clutch bag and back pack, and some great logo T-shirts to complete your look……very cute!
