(September 2012) Okemo has always had some of the best blue cruisers in the Northeast. This season, it’s going to get even better. There are now three new gladed areas adding 16 acres of tree skiing and riding for intermediate glade skiers this winter. With the moderate slope of the terrain skiers and riders who have been hesitant to, if you’ll pardon the expression, hit the trees, now have the opportunity to experience the pleasures and challenges of the woods.
You’ll find the new terrain in Whispering Pines, located off Upper Mountain Road, on skiers’ right, about 200 feet below the Ludlow Lookout. Tree Dancer is located between Coleman Brook and Exhibition. This gladed area begins at the top of Coleman Brook and ends at Mountain Road. Shadows is located off Mountain Road and begins about 200 feet past The Plunge trail on skiers’ left. This is the most advanced of the three new glades.
