(September 2012) Get off the strip and onto your boards! Las Vegas Ski and Snowboard Resort, yes I said Las Vegas, will commemorate its 50th anniversary this season by replacing its 30 year old Chair 3 with the Rabbit Peak Quad, a brand new energy efficient Doppelmayr Eco-Drive quad chairlift, serving terrain for beginning skiers and snowboarders.
The upgrade is part of a larger, $35 million investment representing the largest single year spend in the resort’s history. In addition to the Rabbit Peak Quad, LVSSR will make numerous improvements. The upgrades that guests can look forward to this season include seven additional trails, a restaurant remodel, a new guest locker room and a new on-mountain grill, among others.
The new Rabbit Peak Quad will be realigned to allow for easier loading and unloading to access the beginner terrain. Demolition has already begun and the new lift will be completed by mid-December. It will dramatically increase uphill capacity to the learning area and serve as the main access from a new parking lot and base lodge being built over the next several years.
“The new chairlift will provide a safer, faster and more energy efficient lift, improving the guest experience, especially for our visitors who are new to skiing or snowboarding,” said Kevin Stickelman, LVSSR’s general manager. “The upgrade is one of many in our Master Development Plan, which will ultimately make LVSSR a premier winter outdoor playground for locals and visitors.” http://www.skilasvegas.com/winter/index.html.
