(September, 2012) In its early years, Deer Valley was sometimes called “a real estate development with skiing” but with more skiable acres and more challenging terrain added to the resort year after year; that criticism has long since been silenced. Visit Deer Valley today and rest assured you’ll enjoy the most luxurious experience, both on and off of the mountain, in all of North America. On the hill you’ll find miles of corduroy, plenty of adrenaline pumping runs, and a lift system second to none. It’s lodging and restaurants are also perennially ranked among the best anywhere.
This winter skiers (sorry boarders, Deer Valley is one of a handful of resorts closed to you) accustomed to first-class service and amenities will be treated to even greater benefits with the Resort’s scheduled $8 million worth of improvements for the 2012/2013 season. Perhaps most noticeable is the replacement of the Deer Crest chairlift on Little Baldy Mountain with a high-speed detachable quad lift named Mountaineer Express. The new chairlift will increase the uphill skier capacity by 1,200 skiers per hour.
“Deer Valley Resort is dedicated to remaining the #1 resort in North America and we are continually assessing needed improvements that will be the most advantageous to our guests,” said Bob Wheaton, resort president and general manager.
Additional improvements will include remodeling the Snow Park Restaurant, replacing the wooden deck at Empire Canyon Lodge with heated pavers, expanding snowmaking capabilities to more terrain in Empire Canyon, purchasing additional low-energy, air-water guns, and five additional Prinoth Snowcats, including one Beast Groomer.
