(October 2013)  Olympic aficionados will want to book a flight to Utah soon. The state will be hosting nearly a dozen pre-Olympic qualifying events at various times and venues, including four World Cup events and four U.S. Olympic trials. It’s a prime chance to see world class Olympic hopefuls on home turf just weeks before the actual medal events in Sochi, Russia. It’s the biggest winter sports schedule to hit the state since the 2002 Salt Lake games. Here’s a list of events with dates and locations for you.

FIL Luge World Cup – Utah Olympic Park December 13 – 14
U.S. Speed Skating Trials (long track) – Olympic Oval 12/27 – 1/1
U.S. Nordic Combined & Ski Jumping – Utah Olympic Park 12/29
U.S. Speed Skating Trials (short track) – Olympic Oval 1/2 – 5
U.S. X-Cntry & Adaptive Championship – Soldier Hollow 1/4 – 10
FIS Freestyle Ski World Cup – Deer Valley Resort January 8-11
U.S. Sprint Grand Prix (U.S. Olympic Free-skiing Team Naming Ceremony) – Park City Mtn Resort January 17 – 19
